Le mandat de Peter Van Walsum, Envoy\u00e9 Personnel du SG de l’ONU pour le Sahara Occidental depuis 2005 a pris fin le 21 ao\u00fbt 2008. Il n’a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 renouvel\u00e9 par Ban Ki-moon. Cependant, son successeur n’a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9sign\u00e9 qu’en janvier 2009. Probablement \u00e0 cause des agissements du Maroc dans les coulisses.<\/div>\n

En effet, selon un email envoy\u00e9 par Ahmed Charai le 8 ao\u00fbt 2008, celui-ci informe son chef, Mourad El Ghoul, directeur du cabinet de Yassine Mansourim qu’il a demand\u00e9 \u00e0 Elliott Abrams, \u00e0 l’\u00e9poque conseiller adjoint du pr\u00e9sident Bush pour les Affaires de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 nationale, charg\u00e9 de la Strat\u00e9gie de d\u00e9mocratie globale, “d’intervenir pour qu’au moins Walsum reste jusqu’en d\u00e9cembre. Il a aussi \u00e9crit \u00e0 Jasin Issaacson, de l’American Jewish Committee pour qu’il envoie “une lettre officielle au Secr\u00e9taire G\u00e9n\u00e9ral lui demandant de veiller sur les engagements pris par le Conseil de S\u00e9curit\u00e9 afin de faciliter les n\u00e9gociations entre le Maroc et les autres parties concern\u00e9es par l’affaire du Sahara”.<\/div>\n

Charai ajoute que Jack Avital, le pr\u00e9sident de l’Alliance juive des S\u00e9pharades US contactera “son ami cor\u00e9en et l’invitera tr\u00e8s vite (fin ao\u00fbt) \u00e0 NY pour organiser une r\u00e9union avec Ban Ki-moon”.<\/div>\n
