Rep. Norman Dicks is <\/span>the Ranking Member of the full Appropriations Committee<\/span> from <\/span>the state of <\/span>Washington<\/span>. He <\/span>represents <\/span>Washington<\/span>\u2019s 6<\/span>th<\/span><\/span> congressional district, located in the northwestern corner of the state. <\/span>He is a tireless advocate for environmental conservation and defense policy, as <\/span>Boeing is a major employer in his district<\/span>. <\/span>He <\/span>was first elected to Congress in 1976. He recently announced that he will not be running for reelection. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Rep. Dicks is a reliable supporter of <\/span>Morocco<\/span>. He sig<\/span>ned both the 2007 and the 2009 C<\/span>ongressional letters in support of the Moroccan Autonomy Plan, and also voted in favor of the 2006 Free Trade Agreement. <\/span>He is a long time friend of Ed Gabriel.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Rep. Dicks has a very busy week as they are marking up 4 of the biggest Appropriations bills (Homeland, Defense, and Military Construction, in addition to our bill) and will likely not want to talk for a long time. <\/span>As<\/span> the Ranking Member, <\/span>i<\/span>t will b<\/span>e important to him to know<\/span> that the policy recommendation (resolve based on autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty) is also the policy of the Obama administration<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
