Rep. <\/span>Hal<\/span> Rogers <\/span>is a Republican from <\/span>Kentucky<\/span>. <\/span>Rep. Rogers is Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee<\/span> and the most powerful person on the Committee. He has a reputation as a skillful insider with significant influence over a wide range of areas. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He was born in rural <\/span>Kentucky<\/span> and has represented the 5<\/span>th<\/span><\/span> district for 13 terms, making him the longest serving <\/span>Kentucky<\/span> republican ever elected to federal office. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Rep. Rogers<\/span> has been a <\/span>consistent supporter of <\/span>Morocco<\/span>. He visited <\/span>Morocco<\/span> when Ed Gabriel was serving as US Ambassador in <\/span>Rabat<\/span>. H<\/span>e <\/span>has <\/span>sent <\/span>a staffer<\/span> on the Congressional Staff Delegation to <\/span>Morocco<\/span>. In 2004 <\/span>he voted in favor of the Free Trade Agreement. In 2007 and 2009 he signed both House letters supporting the Moroccan Autonomy plan.  <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As a strong supporter of <\/span>Morocco<\/span> and resolving the dispute over the <\/span>Western Sahara<\/span> based on Autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty, Rep. Rogers should be supportive of the report language.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Rep. Rogers has a very busy week as they are marking up 4 of the biggest <\/span>Appropriations<\/span> bills<\/span> (Homeland, Defense, and Military Construction, in addition to our bill)<\/span> and will likely not want to talk for a long time.<\/span> Rep. Rogers will want to hear that this language has the support of key Republicans on the subcommittee like Kay Granger and Mario Diaz-Balart.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
