  • Morocco intercepts over 200 migrants trying to reach Europe

    Morroco’s coastguard said that it intercepted 231 migrants at sea earlier in the week. They were reportedly all coming from sub-Saharan Africa. The Agence France-Presse (AFP) news agency quoted Morocco’s official MAP news agency as saying that the migrants traveling in kayaks and other small boats had been intercepted and taken to safety on Tuesday. Some had to be given first aid, according to military sources that were cited in the original report. Morocco has repeatedly intercepted irregular migrants headed for Europe in recent months.

  • Le calvaire des africains au Maroc

    Les marocains n’hésitent pas à exprimer leur condamnation de la mort de George Floyd aux États-Unis, alors qu’au Maroc les africains sont victimes des pires des supplices. A titre d’exemple, Toussaint-Alex Mianzoukouta, mort le 30/7/2013 à Oujda après avoir été éjecté en pleine course d’une fourgonnette de police.

    Il avait une carte de séjour marocaine, et enseignait le français dans une école privée à Rabat. Marié et père d’un enfant, âgé de 39 ans, il s’était rendu à Tanger le 24 juillet. Il fût pris dans une rafle de police visant les subsahariens en situation irrégulière.

    Avec d’autres subsahariens, il fût embarqué dans une fourgonnette les menant vers la frontière maroco-algérienne où, selon une pratique récurrente, ils allaient lâchés en plein désert, à bonne distance de toute vie humaine, en espérant leur disparition physique.

    Les subsahariens dans la fourgonnette protestèrent contre le traitement inhumain qui les attendait. Un tumulte s’ensuivit, auquel Toussaint-Alex ne prit pas part. Un policier, assis en face de lui et furieux de la révolte des prisonniers, décida de se venger.

    Il prit Toussaint-Alex, ouvrit la porte de la fourgonnette et l’éjecta de force sur la toute alors que le véhicule roulait à pleine vitesse. Il fallut une révolte des autres prisonniers pour que les policiers acceptèrent de ramasser le corps de Toussaint-Alex.

    Il mourut dans un hôpital à Oujda après six jours d’agonie. Durant son arrestation, il avait tenter de montrer sa carte de séjour aux policiers pour prouver son statut légal sur le territoire marocain, sans le moindre succès. Mort pour rien, sinon sa peau noire.

    Ces faits n’ont pas eu à Minneapolis, ni en banlieue parisienne, mais bel et bien au Maroc, le pays qui prétend défendre les intérêts des africains alors qu’il s’est érigé en gendarme de l’Europe en áfrique profitant du silence complice des régimes de la Françafrique au Sénégal, en Côte d’Ivoire, au Mali, au Niger, au Burkina Faso…
